Categories – How it works

This guide gives you an overview of Categories and how to use the feature to track your equipment. We explain how equipment is grouped and how you find what you are looking for. This guide is for you if you want an overview of equipment and to find units.

When should I use this guide?

  • You want to see how much equipment you have of a certain type

  • You are looking for specific equipment (e.g. a model or manufacturer)

  • You want to see where equipment is located

  • You want an overview of your company’s equipment


Requirements

  • You are logged in on the web

  • You have access to the Categories tab


How to do it

On the web

  1. Go to Categories in the menu

  2. Search by model, manufacturer, or description

  3. Click the arrow next to a category

  4. View the list of equipment in the category

In the list, you can see:

  • Description

  • Individual number

  • Count

  • User

  • Current place


If it doesn’t work

  • Make sure you are searching for the correct model, manufacturer, or description

  • Check the spelling in your search

  • Ensure the equipment is registered in the system

  • Make sure you have the correct permissions


Tips!

  • Equipment is automatically categorized based on model and manufacturer

  • If information is missing, the description is used instead

  • Use categories to quickly answer questions like:

    • “Where are all the batteries?”

    • “How many drills do we have?”
